Shari’s Serve Up the Savings

The success of Shari’s Restaurants energy and sustainability program shows how Fortune 1000 companies can improve business results by reducing energy and other facility expenses, while also managing risk and strengthening overall environmental performance. Data visibility has enabled Shari’s to see more and save more, realizing 16-percent year-over-year improvement through informed decision making.

To achieve these savings, Shari’s first needed to know where to focus its efforts. Shari’s, a chain of 100 family-dining restaurants, has implemented a corporate-wide energy management program that combines data management, audits and energy performance initiatives that give Shari’s a precise view of energy usage across its restaurant chain.

Key lesson 1: Invest in research and data collection to make informed decisions.

Key lesson 2: Make energy management part of everyone’s job.
